Sensor Mounting System

Mounting bases are used to mount the system onto a machine or fixture. They have standardized counterbores, allowing them to be mounted directly onto extruded aluminum framing, sheet metal, and other workspaces. Mounting bases can be combined with other modular mounting components, such as portable magnetic bases so the system can easily be moved around without the use of tools..

Two-Way Base - Two-way bases can accommodate up to three tubes at once with one vertical bore and two horizontal mounts. They allow for the greatest variety of tube orientations for versatility, allowing designers to start with the same base regardless of where it is used in the application. Standard clamp screws can be replaced by clamping lever kits, making it easier to remove or finely adjust tubes without tools. Two-way bases are available in aluminum with a matte or anodized finish.

One-Way Base - The one-way base fits one tube parallel to the mounting surface. It needs less clearance than the two-way base and is better suited for applications where a single orientation is needed. The standard clamp screw can be replaced by a clamping lever kit, making it easier to remove or adjust the tube without tools. One-way bases are available in aluminum with a matte or anodized finish.

Flanged Bolt Base - Flanged bolt bases are a short rod connected to a mounting plate with two counterbores. The rod is perpendicular to the counterbores and used in place of a tube when the additional length is not required or desired. The short rod has a low center of gravity and is integrated directly into the base, allowing it to hold more mass than a longer tube. Flanged bolt bases are a cost-effective alternative to buying a base and tubes because it provides both functions in one part. It is made of zinc plated steel with a blue passivated finish.

Tubes and rods are used to get the sensor in the proper position. They are available in 100, 200, and 300mm lengths and options with scales are available for applications that require precise adjustments.

Solid Round - Solid round tubes are available in 8 and 10mm outer diameters. They are precision ground to an h11 tolerance and made of solid 304 stainless steel for corrosion resistance, weldability, and can handle extreme temperatures. Solid tubes are ideal for applications requiring higher durability than hollow tubes can offer. They are best suited for the vertical arm of sensor mount systems as they can support more weight than hollow tubes.

Hollow Round - Hollow round tubes are available in 12, 15, 16, and 20mm outer diameters. They are made of 304 stainless steel that can handle extreme temperatures and has high corrosion resistance. Round tube caps can be plugged into each end of the tube as an added layer of protection for wires and other components that may be fed through the tube.

Square - All square tubes are hollow and available in three different outer diameters of 10, 12, and 16mm. Connector clamps have round bores with broached edges deigned to fit the square tubes. All square tubes are aluminum, making them the cost-effective option and best suited for lightweight applications such as mounting sensors. They can have wires fed through them and a square tube cap can be added to protect them from outside contaminants.

Two-way connector clamps have two thru holes to allow for a variety of tube orientations. The connector clamp you choose is dependent on the orientation you need the tubes to be in. They are made of aluminum with a matte finish for general industrial use or an anodized finish for added corrosion resistance. Adjustable handle kits can be used to replace standard hardware in all connectors, making it easier to remove or adjust the position of tubes that are connected.

Perpendicular - This connector features two thru holes that are perpendicular to one another. It mates with square tubes, round tubes, and flanged bolt bases. It is used in sensor mount systems that are in a fixed 90° angle. A common application where the perpendicular two-way connector is useful is conveyors.

Parallel - This connector has two thru holes that are parallel to one another. It mates with square tubes, round tubes, and flanged bolt bases. Both thru holes are on the same face of the connector so only one screw is needed to clamp down on both tubes, saving time when installing or adjusting. It is often paired with a flanged bolt base in one end and a tube in the other.

Adjustable - The adjustable two-way connector can be rotated to allow tubes to be adjusted in any angle. These are used when a setup requires frequent adjustments, such as packaging applications where the height changes. For example, the same sensor may be counting 12oz cans and 16oz cans and the sensor height will need to be adjusted accordingly.

90 Degrees - This connector has one thru hole and a blind hole or rod. A set screw is used to hold the rod in place or to be tightened onto a tube if more length is needed. The stub type is used when a tube is required to connect the part to another, but additional length is not needed.

Bracket clamps are used to connect the sensor bracket to the rest of the modular mounting system. They have a thru hole on one side to feed a tube through and a threaded hole(s) on the other side to affix the sensor bracket.

There are two styles of bracket clamps, allowing for different ways to affix the sensor. One mates the bracket to the bracket clamp with a single tapped hole, which suits most industrial applications. Some applications require more holding power and that is when you would use the bracket clamp with the cross-thread pattern. The cross-thread pattern has a center thread that is surrounded by four smaller threads, allowing the user to tighten the bracket in place with multiple screws. Using multiple screws decreases the likelihood of the bracket getting loose from vibration. Bracket clamps are available in aluminum with a matte finish or with an anodized finish for added corrosion resistance.

Mounting brackets are L-shaped components that connect the sensor to the rest of the modular mounting system. There are two standard widths of mounting brackets: 16mm and 30mm. The 16mm wide bracket has a single screw pocket and the 30mm wide bracket has a cross screw pattern that allows it to be tightened down with multiple screws for increased holding power. All mounting brackets are made of corrosion-resistant 303 stainless steel.

Plain - Mounting brackets that do not have a pre-made thru hole. They feature a solid plate that can be made into custom thru hole sizes (1 to 30mm) and shapes by the customer.

With thru hole- Mounting brackets with a pre-cut thru hole to fit round sensors with outer diameters of 8, 12, 18, and 30mm.

Adjustable Handle Kits - The adjustable handle kit allows users to adjust and reposition connectors along a tube or rod in a modular mounting system. Adjustable handle kits are comprised of a zinc die-cast handle, a spacer bushing, and a threaded stud. They are designed to replace standard hardware in connector clamps.

Portable Magnetic Bases - Portable magnetic bases make it easy to move modular mounting systems around without the use of tools. The portable magnetic base is a magnetic puck-shaped disk that has standardized threads and matching drill holes to mount with all mounting bases. Once the magnet is installed, users can lift and place their modular mounting system on any magnetic surface.
