What Do Different Jaw Coupling Spider Colors Mean?

Release Date: July 31, 2019

Jaw coupling spiders do not all share the same properties but what exactly do the different colors represent?

Question: Do the spider colors represent anything?
Answer: Yes, they definitely do. We dye the spiders so users and we Rulanders can differentiate between the durometer, or the hardness, of the spider. As you can see with the undyed spider in my hand, there's no quick visual way to differentiate it from any other spider. We offer spiders in 3 durometers which allows users to tailor the coupling's performance to the needs of their application. The dye is critical for us when we go to pick order to know we have picked the right one and for you, when you receive it, to know you've received the right one. The red spider is 98 Shore A hardness, the yellow spider is 92 Shore A hardness, and the blue spider is 85 Shore A hardness.
