Mountable shaft collars with face holes are designed to mate directly with components such as sprockets, pulleys, and metallic plates. Ruland manufactures them with drilled holes for mounting flexibility or threaded holes for the most secure connection between the collar and mated component. They are offered in steel, aluminum, and 303 stainless steel in bore sizes ranging from 3/8” to 2” and 10mm to 50mm.
Clamp style universal joints improve over set screw style because they do not mar the shaft, offer infinite adjustability, and can be used on all shaft types. Ruland is the only North American supplier of clamp style universal joints and manufactures the clamp feature, bores, and keyways in our advanced manufacturing facility in Marlborough, MA USA. They are available in sizes from 1/4" to 1 1/4” in steel for high strength and stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
Ruland Controlflex couplings are a three-piece assembly with a balanced design comprised of two hubs joined to one or two center inserts called frogs. Clamp style hubs are manufactured with inch, metric, keyed, and keyless bores ranging from 1/8” to 1-1/2” and 3mm to 40mm for high customizability. The unique design of the frog concentrates forces onto its flexible limbs allowing for low bearing loads protecting sensitive small bearings in applications such as encoders or tachometers. Controlflex couplings are also electrically isolating since the hubs do not touch and frogs are made from acetal. They are manufactured by Schmidt-Kupplung in Germany and are RoHS3 compliant.

The unique design of the insert allows them to remain rigid while flexing under misalignment conditions. Controlflex inserts have low restoring forces and help protective sensitive system components such as bearings in encoder type applications. They come standard with a center hole allowing shafts to be penetrated through the center if the application requires it. Controlflex inserts are manufactured from acetal and are designed as the wear element making replacement simple and cost effective.
