Mountable shaft collars with face holes are designed to mate directly with components such as sprockets, pulleys, and metallic plates. Ruland manufactures them with drilled holes for mounting flexibility or threaded holes for the most secure connection between the collar and mated component. They are offered in steel, aluminum, and 303 stainless steel in bore sizes ranging from 3/8” to 2” and 10mm to 50mm.
Clamp style universal joints improve over set screw style because they do not mar the shaft, offer infinite adjustability, and can be used on all shaft types. Ruland is the only North American supplier of clamp style universal joints and manufactures the clamp feature, bores, and keyways in our advanced manufacturing facility in Marlborough, MA USA. They are available in sizes from 1/4" to 1 1/4” in steel for high strength and stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
Rigid shaft couplings are available with or without keyways in one- and two-piece and set screw designs. Ruland manufactures them from select North American bar stock in 2024 aluminum for lightweight and low inertia, 1215 lead-free steel for general purpose use, and 303 stainless steel for high corrosion resistance. Straight and step bore type rigid couplings are standard products for shafts ranging from 1/8" to 2" and 3mm to 50mm. Inch to metric conversion couplings are available by special order. Each rigid coupling is stamped with the Ruland name and the bore sizes for ease of identification. All Ruland rigid couplings are carefully made in our Marlborough, MA USA factory under strict controls using proprietary processes and are RoHS3 and REACH compliant.
One-piece rigid couplings from Ruland do not mar the shaft and have high torsional holding power. They are supplied with proprietary Nypatch® anti-vibration coating, which allows for repeated installations, prevents screws from coming loose during operation, and provides the necessary dissimilar material in stainless steel couplings to reduce galling. Straight bore rigid couplings from Ruland are precision honed to ensure bores are collinear. This is important when the rigid coupling is used in a precision servo system as honing allows for greater surface contact with the shaft and higher torque transmission capabilities. Ruland manufactures one-piece rigid couplings in 1215 lead-free steel with a proprietary black oxide finish, 303 stainless steel, and lightweight 2024 aluminum.
Two-piece rigid couplings have the same benefits as one-piece style with the added advantages of being serviced in-place, opposing hardware for a balanced design and step bores with keyways. Ruland manufactures two-piece rigid couplings in 1215 lead-free steel with a proprietary black oxide finish and 303 stainless steel.
Set screw rigid couplings from Ruland have precision honed bores to ensure they are collinear. This is important when the rigid coupling is used in a precision servo system or on a mixer as honing allows for greater surface contact with the shaft and higher torque transmission capabilities. Ruland manufactures set screw rigid couplings in 1215 lead-free steel and 303 stainless steel.
Short rigid couplings can be used in applications where space is limited. The short rigid coupling has a reduced torque capability compared to a standard rigid coupling due to its use of a single socket head cap screw per shaft. However, the compact size of the collar reduces inertia making it ideal for motion control applications. Ruland manufactures short rigid couplings in 1215 lead-free steel with a proprietary black oxide finish, 303 stainless steel, and high-strength 2024 aluminum. Bore sizes range from 1/8" to 2" and 6mm to 25mm.
Lower installation costs based on our proprietary Nypatch® coated hardware. This also allows for increased holding power and multiple screw insertions without screws loosening during operation.
Enhanced holding power, improved corrosion resistance, and a fine glossy finish are achieved through our in-house proprietary black oxide process.
Designed for reduced vibration and higher speed capabilities, our two-piece styles feature opposing screws, ensuring a balanced design.
A fine, burr-free finish for environments where cross-contamination is not desirable.
The highest performance and precision are achieved through careful manufacturing processes in our Marlborough, MA advanced manufacturing facility.
Superior fit and torque transmission due to precision honing of the bores on straight bore rigid couplings, which ensures collinearity.
