Mountable shaft collars with face holes are designed to mate directly with components such as sprockets, pulleys, and metallic plates. Ruland manufactures them with drilled holes for mounting flexibility or threaded holes for the most secure connection between the collar and mated component. They are offered in steel, aluminum, and 303 stainless steel in bore sizes ranging from 3/8” to 2” and 10mm to 50mm.
Clamp style universal joints improve over set screw style because they do not mar the shaft, offer infinite adjustability, and can be used on all shaft types. Ruland is the only North American supplier of clamp style universal joints and manufactures the clamp feature, bores, and keyways in our advanced manufacturing facility in Marlborough, MA USA. They are available in sizes from 1/4" to 1 1/4” in steel for high strength and stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
Rigid Couplings for Test, Measurement, and Inspection Applications
Rigid couplings have no flexing element and are machined from a single piece of aluminum, steel, or stainless steel for the greatest torsional stiffness and torque capabilities of any coupling Ruland offers. These performance characteristics are beneficial for designers that need high accuracy and repeatability which is common in test, measurement, and inspection systems found in food processing, material testing, and medical applications. Ruland straight bore rigid couplings are manufactured with precision honed bores for collinearity to ensure a precise fit and greater torque transmission capability. Collinear bores prevent the coupling from introducing misalignment into systems where it would not otherwise be present allowing for reduced wear on joined components and increased system efficiency. Rigid couplings are available in set screw and one- and two-piece clamping styles in 1215 lead-free steel with a black oxide finish for the highest holding power, lightweight 2024 aluminum for low inertia, and 303 stainless steel for corrosion resistance. Bores are available in sizes from 1/8” to 2” and 3mm to 50mm. Ruland manufactures rigid couplings in our Marlborough, MA factory under strict controls using proprietary processes.
