Mountable shaft collars with face holes are designed to mate directly with components such as sprockets, pulleys, and metallic plates. Ruland manufactures them with drilled holes for mounting flexibility or threaded holes for the most secure connection between the collar and mated component. They are offered in steel, aluminum, and 303 stainless steel in bore sizes ranging from 3/8” to 2” and 10mm to 50mm.
Clamp style universal joints improve over set screw style because they do not mar the shaft, offer infinite adjustability, and can be used on all shaft types. Ruland is the only North American supplier of clamp style universal joints and manufactures the clamp feature, bores, and keyways in our advanced manufacturing facility in Marlborough, MA USA. They are available in sizes from 1/4" to 1 1/4” in steel for high strength and stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
Ruland oldham couplings are comprised of two anodized aluminum hubs and a center disk. Oldham couplings offer the greatest parallel misalignment accommodation of all Ruland servo couplings as well as low inertia and electrical isolation, making them a fit for a variety of motor systems. They are manufactured with a proprietary machining process for smooth interaction between the hub tenons and disk allowing for the longest service life in the industry. Ruland oldham couplings have a balanced design for reduced vibration at speeds up to 4,500 RPM.
Oldham couplings are highly versatile because of the variety of hub and insert materials available. Acetal, Nylon, and PEEK disks offer a balance between torque, torsional rigidity, and environmental compliance. Aluminum oldham coupling hubs are lightweight, cost effective, and offer low bearing loads. Stainless steel oldham couplings can be used in corrosive, cleanroom, and vacuum environments when paired with a PEEK disk. This combination is useful for motors in food processing applications. The multitude of standard options makes oldham couplings a good starting choice for motor manufacturers or integrators that package systems with lead screws, ball screws, or gearboxes. The same base oldham coupling hub can be specified with the motor while the disk and second hub change depending on the joined component.
Ruland manufactures oldham coupling in our Marlborough, MA factory with bore sizes ranging from 1/8” to 1-1/8” and 3mm to 30mm. They are zero-backlash when used with an acetal or PEEK disk.
