TranscriptHi, I'm Mike Langley, welcome back to Ruland's product installation series. Today I'll show you how to install one of our zero backlash Oldham couplings. For installation today, you'll need your Oldham coupling which consist of two hubs and the center disc. You'll need a torque wrench, some shims or feeler gauge, and your misalignment measuring tools, and don't forget your PVE. We are ready to begin. First, assure the misalignment between shafts is within the coupling’s ratings. Complete misalignment information is available on Ruland.com. If your shafts are fixed make sure the minimum distance between shafts is the hub length. Next, slide the hubs onto each shaft being joined with the drive tenons facing each other. Position one of the hubs on the end of the shaft and tighten the screw to its recommended seating torque. Then place the Oldham disk onto the installed hub by sliding the grooves onto the drive tenons and center the disk by hand. Slide the second hub so that it also locks into place. Insert the appropriate shim into the open grove of the disk. A shim must be used during installation to ensure the coupling can meet its axial motion rating and avoid possible binding or interference. Tighten the screw on the second hub to its recommended seating torque. We're going to make the sure gap has been maintained to ensure maximum performance. Your coupling assembly is now complete.
