What are Threaded Shaft Collars?

Threaded shaft collars share the same performance and benefits of their round bore counterparts, while providing additional features. Threaded collars have higher axial holding power than round bore collars, while offering easier installation and adjustment than solid ring locking devices.

Hi, Bobby Watkins from Ruland Manufacturing and welcome to another edition in our technical video series. In this edition we're going to talk about threaded shaft collars. Ruland has a variety of different styles of threaded shaft collars to fit many applications. Our standard series of collars which are designed to fit industry standard threads in inch and metric are available in a one-piece clamping type and most are available as well in a two-piece split type for ease of installation and be able to go around components with a two-piece design. Variety materials most are available as standard in black oxide steel or in stainless steel and again you know if you have any questions you can view online what we have available as standard. If you don't see what you need for a particular thread size, give us a call. Another series of threaded locknut that we have is our TCN or bearing lock nut series. This collar has spanner wrench OD for tightening and it also has a precision bearing face, it has a raised surface on one side a raised edge if you will, nothing on the back side, here's the raised edge, this is the precision face that you want to put up against your bearing and installation is very, very easy you tighten with a spanner wrench to the torque setting that you require and you tighten the clamp screw and your installation is done. Much easier than the traditional separate lock washer and nut type assemblies. So a variety of threaded collars for different applications.
