Transcript

Hi, Bobby Watkins from Ruland Manufacturing in this segment we're gonna talk about set screw shaft collars. Set screw shaft collars are the most cost effective type of shaft collar, it's basically a steel ring with a set screw. So again very low cost, there are some disadvantages in applications when you're using a set screw collar and we're going to compare it to a clamp type to show you the disadvantages. Set screw bytes into the shaft, it mars the shaft and it has very limited holding power. A clamp type collar wraps around the shaft much higher holding power and it does not mars the shaft that doesn't destroy the shaft by repeatedly taking it off and on. So low cost solution lots of disadvantages but if you've got an application where it probably never needs to be serviced and removed and again cost is the driving factor in selection. A set screw coupling might be a good choice for you.
