What are Heavy Duty Collars?

Heavy duty shaft collars have a larger outer diameter, width, and screw for use in applications where the highest holding is required. They are manufactured in one- and two-piece clamp style from 1215 lead-free steel with a proprietary black oxide finish and 303 stainless steel.

Hi, Bobby Watkins from Ruland Manufacturing and in this segment we are going to talk about heavy duty shaft collars. This is an example of our standard series 3” bore shaft collar and this is an example of our heavy duty 3” bore shaft collar. Notice the larger outside diameter, notice the larger width and this increase an OD and width allows for a larger fastener. This is a key component in increasing the axial holding power of the collar. These collars are available in one- and two-piece clamp styles in black oxide steel and 303 stainless steel. The inch series is available with 3-6” bores and metric 75-150mm bores. If you got an application with the need for an extreme amount of axial holding power, going from the standard series to the heavy duty series collar is going to give you a tremendous increase in holding power.
