Beam Couplings for Machine Vision Systems

Oldham Couplings for Actuator Driven Systems

Six beam couplings have good dampening
characteristics and are torsionally stiffer than
other beam coupling styles making them well
suited for light duty machine vision systems.

Marlborough, MA – Ruland F-series six beam couplings are designed for machine vision systems that demand precision couplings capable of handling frequent starts and stops. They are zero-backlash, can accommodate all forms of misalignment, and have a balanced design for systems commonly found in semiconductor, medical, solar, and test and measurement equipment.

Ruland F-series six beam couplings are made from a single piece of aluminum or stainless steel with multiple sets of spiral cuts allowing for higher torque capabilities and greatly reduced windup when compared to single beam couplings. This spiral cut pattern allows Ruland beam couplings to accommodate all forms of misalignment in industry standard lengths.

Ruland beam couplings are manufactured for use in light duty machine vision systems that require some dampening and high flexibility. They are available in aluminum for better shock absorption and low inertia or stainless steel for higher torque. Designers must be careful when using stainless steel as it has significantly higher inertia than aluminum types. The balanced design allows for constant velocity and reduced vibration at speeds up to 6,000 RPM.

F-series six beam couplings are available in clamp or set screw hub attachments with inch, metric, and inch to metric combinations ranging from 1/8” to 3/4” and 3mm to 20mm. Clamp style six beam couplings are supplied with Ruland’s proprietary Nypatch® anti-vibration hardware which prevents screws from coming loose during operation.

Beam couplings are part of Ruland’s complete zero-backlash coupling line which also includes rigid, bellows, disc, jaw, and oldham. All products are carefully manufactured in our Marlborough, Massachusetts factory under strict controls using proprietary processes. 3-D CAD files, full product specifications, and additional technical information are all available on ruland.com.
