quickly clamp, release, and adjust shaft collars with no tools.
Marlborough, MA – Ruland Manufacturing now supplies quick clamping shaft collars with clamping levers. These adjustable levers can easily be combined with existing metric and international series shaft collars to create a shaft collar that requires no tools to install, remove, or reposition.
Once the lever is installed into the shaft collar, users can simply turn the lever until they meet their desired torque. For fine adjustments, the lever must be lifted and twisted 40° to lock it in a new position. This feature has the added benefit of allowing the lever to be used in space constrained applications where 360° motion is not possible. Quick clamping shaft collars with clamping levers are significantly faster to adjust than collars with standard hardware, making them ideally suited for packaging, printing, and other applications where frequent setup changes and adjustments are needed.
Quick clamping shaft collars with clamping levers can be used for guiding spacing, stopping, mounting, and component alignment. They have reduced holding power when compared to standard shaft collars as it is not possible to precisely control seating torque. Designers benefit from the tightly controlled face to bore perpendicularity of Ruland shaft collars (TIR ≤ 0.002” or .05mm) which is critical when they are used as a load bearing face or for component alignment. Ruland identifies this work surface with one or two circular grooves on the face of the shaft collar to assist in installation.
Ruland manufactures shaft collars from high-strength 2024 aluminum, 1215 lead-free steel with a proprietary black oxide finish, and 303 and 316 stainless steel. Quick clamping shaft collars with clamping levers are available in sizes ranging from 7/16” to 1-1/2” and 11mm to 40mm. Shaft collars are manufactured in our Marlborough, Massachusetts factory under strict controls using proprietary processes. Levers are sourced from JW Winco and have a stainless steel threaded stud (M4-M6) that is used to replace standard collar hardware. All components in the quick release shaft collars are RoHS3 and REACH compliant.
With this addition, Ruland now offers two styles of quick clamping shaft collars – with clamping lever and with cam lever. These options give machine designers unmatched flexibility to use standard components when designing a system that requires frequent and/or rapid change outs.
