Ruland Manufacturing Co., Inc.
January 3, 2014
Marlborough, MA - Ruland Manufacturing Co., Inc. is continuing its support of FIRST® by donating a variety of shaft collars, rigid couplings, and motion control couplings to the 2014 FIRST® Robotics Competition. Ruland’s shaft collars and couplings are given to teams of high school students who have six weeks to design, program, and build a complex robot. The competition kicks off on Saturday January 4th, and culminates in St. Louis, MO with the FIRST® Robotics Championship from April 24-26, 2014.
Over the past year Ruland has developed a new line of shaft collars specifically designed for the hex shafting used on the robots drivetrain. The new hex bore shaft collars are available to teams through both the Kit of Parts and FIRST® Choice. Ruland believes strongly in education and is excited to help inspire a future generation of engineers.
FIRST® was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. Based in Manchester, NH, the 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit public charity designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.
Ruland was established in 1937 and has focused on carefully made shaft collars and couplings for the last 40 years. All Ruland products are manufactured in our Marlborough Massachusetts USA factory under strict controls using proprietary processes. Ruland's complete product line includes shaft collars, rigid couplings and five types of zero backlash couplings: beam, bellows, disc, jaw, and oldham.
