Mountable shaft collars with face holes are designed to mate directly with components such as sprockets, pulleys, and metallic plates. Ruland manufactures them with drilled holes for mounting flexibility or threaded holes for the most secure connection between the collar and mated component. Clamp style universal joints improve over set screw style because they do not mar the shaft, offer infinite adjustability, and can be used on all shaft types. Indexing plungers with the lock-out feature are used in applications where the plunger must not protrude continually. To achieve this, the knob is rotated by 90° after being retracted. The head of the plunger body is provided with a suitable notch in opposite positions to prevent the plunger from accidentally slipping back into its forward position due to error or vibration. Lock-out precision indexing plungers are available with or without locknut. The locknut type is commonly used in high leverage applications where the indexing plunger needs to stay locked in a fixed position.
